Assault Crimes Team

The Assault Crimes Unit has Detectives assigned and their primary function is the investigation of Crimes of Violence such as:

  • Assaults
  • Death Investigations
  • Family Violence
  • Harassment / Threats / Stalking
  • Homicide
  • Interference with Child Custody
  • Kidnapping
  • Missing Persons / Runaways
  • Other Sex Related Crimes
  • Robbery
  • Sexual Assault and
  • Violation of Protective Orders
  • Weapons Violations

Sex Offender Registration

Detectives assigned to this unit are tasked with maintaining the Sex Offender Registry within the city limits of Victoria. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has established a website as the official internet public access to the DPS sex offender registration computerized central database. Anyone can go to this website and search for registered sex offenders in their neighborhood.

The Victoria Police Department (VPD) has developed a Sex Offender Accountability Program (SOAP) which involves a physical residential check of all registered sex offenders living within the city limits.

How You Can Help

Registered Sex Offenders are required to report their change of address within 7 days. If you become aware of any violations, please contact the VPD Investigations Division at 361-485-3730.
