Residents can look forward to a variety of family-oriented outdoor activities at upcoming community events thanks to Parks & Recreation’s new traveling pop-up park.
“The idea was to put a portable park in a trailer so that we can bring the fun of a park to areas that don’t have access to a park,” said recreation coordinator Gabby Anglin. “We tried to jam-pack as much fun as we could into the trailer.”
The pop-up park is a small trailer packed with athletic equipment, gym toys such as hula hoops and jump ropes, yard games and other items that residents can use to play outdoors.
The pop-up park has already made appearances at Son Valley Ranch’s Family Outdoor Expo and the Children’s Discovery Museum’s Seussical STEAM Fest, and Anglin said feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. In addition to the Parks & Recreation will continue to partner with community organizations to host the pop-up park.
The park is also equipped with hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies, and Parks & Recreation staff are available to clean and wipe down equipment during events. Staff will wear facial coverings when interacting with the public.
The pop-up park was made possible by a partnership with Academy Sports + Outdoors, which donated most of the equipment for the trailer.
