[ARCHIVED] City of Victoria Parks & Recreation opens registration for spring leagues

Registration is open for the City of Victoria Parks & Recreation’s adult disc golf, cornhole, washers, sand volleyball, kickball and slowpitch softball leagues.

Residents may register for the spring leagues by visiting www.victoriatx.gov/registration or calling Parks & Recreation 361-485-3200. Schedules for team sports will be announced after registration closes for each event. Participants in each league are guaranteed eight games followed by a tournament for the top four finishers, and the top two winners will receive prizes.

Disc golf will begin March 1 at Riverside Park. Participants will have one week to complete each 18-hole round of disc golf and return scorecards to recreation coordinator Alex Moore. Participants must play alongside at least one other league member to ensure accountability. After eight rounds, the tournament will be May 1 at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $20 per participant. Registration ends Feb. 19.

Cornhole and washers will be Wednesday evenings starting March 3 at Aero Crafters, 309 E. Crestwood Drive. The registration fee is $60 for a team of two players and an optional alternate. Participants must pay separate registration fees if registering for both cornhole and washers. Registration ends Feb. 19.

Men’s, women’s and co-ed 4x4 sand volleyball will be Thursday evenings starting March 25 at the sand volleyball courts in Riverside Park. The registration fee is $150 for a roster up to eight players. Registration ends March 5.

Co-ed kickball will be Wednesday evenings starting March 24 at the Adult Softball Complex, 510 Proctor St. The registration fee is $300 for a roster up to 20 players. Registration ends March 5.

Men’s softball will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting March 23 and 25 and co-ed softball will be Monday evenings starting March 22 at the Adult Softball Complex, 510 Proctor St. The registration fee is $300 for a roster up to 20 players. Registration ends March 5.

To protect the health of participants and staff, all leagues will follow current best practices for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Hand sanitizer will be available, and attendees will be required to wear masks when standing within 6 feet of another person and not playing. Residents with questions about COVID-19 precautions for the spring leagues may contact Parks & Recreation at 361-485-3200. Participants are reminded to wash and sanitize their hands frequently, observe social distancing recommendations and stay home if they feel unwell.
