Qualified occupants of retail and office spaces downtown can apply for matching grants for exterior improvement projects through the Victoria Main Street Program’s Downtown Façade Grant Program.
“This is a great way for the City to support the renovation of historic properties downtown by partnering with the property owners,” said Danielle Williams, director of the Victoria Main Street Program. “We hope our property owners will take this opportunity to make their businesses more inviting to residents and visitors.”
Downtown properties that are on the Historic Resources Survey of Victoria or are a minimum of 50 years old are eligible for the program. Property owners, or renters who have the property owner’s consent, can apply for the grant and view eligibility requirements at www.victoriatx.gov/mainstreet.
A total of $50,000 will be distributed to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants can apply for grants up to $10,000 and must fund 50% of the cost of the project.
The Victoria Main Street Program will host a workshop 2-3 p.m. Feb. 10 at 700 Main Center, Suite 205, to provide information and answer questions about the program. Interested applicants will have the option of attending in person or via Zoom. Information about joining through Zoom can be obtained by contacting Williams at 361-485-3060 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Funding for the program is provided by the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation, which oversees the allocation of Type 4B sales tax revenue for economic and community development projects.
Williams will contact applicants to confirm receipt of their applications and ask any necessary follow-up questions.
