The City of Victoria continues to monitor positive cases among employees and follow guidance from the Victoria County Public Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Two additional employees have tested positive for COVID-19 since the City provided its last update July 17. Both of the new cases are from the Victoria Police Department. The new cases bring the total number of positive cases among City of Victoria employees to twenty-nine.

Of the 29 positive cases, eight are active and 21 have recovered. All of the employees with active cases are self-isolated at home and are in good condition.

The Victoria County Public Health Department is working to identify contacts who may have been exposed to the employees who tested positive. Anyone found to have had a high-risk exposure will be contacted as soon as possible.

Members of the public are strongly encouraged to handle City business remotely through phone or email. Information about how to access services can be found on each department’s homepage at www.victoriatx.gov or by calling 361-485-3110.

Residents are strongly advised to abide by Governor Abbott’s orders and public health recommendations from the CDC to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. These include avoiding large groups, maintaining six feet of distance from others, practicing proper hygiene and wearing facial coverings in public.

For more information about COVID-19, visit www.victoriatxoem.org or call the local COVID-19 hotline at 361-580-5796.
