At approximately 7:30 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024, the Victoria Fire Department, Victoria Police Department, Quail Creek and Raisin Volunteer Fire Departments, Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, Victoria County Fire Marshal’s Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident along US Highway 77. The initial call information indicated a semi-truck and a passenger bus with multiple passengers involved. The Victoria Fire Department, Victoria Police Department, Victoria Office of Emergency Management, Golden Crescent Regional Medical Operations Center, and mutual aid EMS transporting units from Goliad, Refugio and Calhoun Counties all provided immediate support on the scene.

On arrival, the first responding agencies identified a two-vehicle accident with both vehicles sustaining significant damage. A total of 10 individuals were transported to local area hospitals with assistance and coordination between all agencies involved. One patient was trapped in the bus; emergency personnel worked to free the trapped person, who was then transported in critical but stable condition. The other nine injured people were transported to local hospitals thirty-eight minutes from the time of call, along with one uninjured person. The remaining individuals were assessed for injuries although not transported to healthcare facilities, and were instead transported away from the incident site.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is handling the investigation of the crash.

Victoria County and the City of Victoria would like to thank all local, state, and federal agencies for their continued partnership and coordination. Incidents like this can rapidly overwhelm local resources, and having solid partnerships in our community makes a difference.
