[ARCHIVED] Police Chief Chuck Young earns master’s degree

Chuck Young Police Chief

Victoria Police Department Chief Chuck Young recently earned his master’s degree in criminal justice from Lamar University. The program equips graduates with advanced academic training, special expertise in advanced issues, administrative proficiency and the methodological and statistical skills necessary to understand research and new developments within the criminal justice system. Young joined the Victoria Police Department as a deputy police chief in 2021 and was promoted to chief in 2023. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute of Policing (SMIP) Class #89 and the Caruth Police Institute Series VI and VII, and he holds a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Master Peace Officer certification. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Midwestern State University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
