Quirky crayons, three little pigs, a very hungry caterpillar and other beloved characters went on a morning stroll downtown on Sept. 6 to celebrate 50 years of storytelling and imagination at the Victoria Public Library.
Participants in the VPL Storybook Fun Run walked, ran or rode in golf carts from the Nave Museum—the former home of the Victoria Public Library—to the current library building, where they enjoyed a block party featuring fun activities and community resources.
Prizes were given for two group costumes based on the “Frog and Toad” books by Arnold Lobel and “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt.
“We’re thankful for our patrons who showed up to support the library and had fun doing so,” said Victoria Public Library Director Jessica Berger. “I would especially like to thank our sponsors for helping to make these events possible during our anniversary year.”
Sponsors for the event were:
- Once Upon a Sponsor: Sparklight
- Fairytale Friends: Amazing Athletes, Monuments of Victoria, Tiffany Cheng, Cindy & Josh Zeplin
