The City of Victoria Solid Waste is working to reunite lost trash and recycling carts with their rightful owners after Thursday’s storm caused multiple carts to be swept away.
Residents who are unable to locate their trash or recycling carts should contact Solid Waste at 361-485-3220 or use the Victoria Texas 311 app for assistance.
Residents who found displaced carts after the storm should also contact Solid Waste so that the carts can be returned to their owners.
In addition, Solid Waste drivers continue working to collect trash and recycling as quickly as possible amid challenging conditions at the Victoria landfill.
Multiple days of wet weather have led to wet and muddy conditions at the landfill, which has delayed trash drop-off.
To better prioritize trash pickup during this time, Solid Waste has been allocating some of its resources from recycling collection to trash pickup. Because of this, recycling that is normally scheduled to be collected Tuesday may be picked up Wednesday instead.
Residents may also experience delays with trash pickup during this time; however, the department is committed to providing customers with trash pickup on their scheduled days.
“If your pickup is delayed, rest assured that our Solid Waste drivers will continue working into the night to ensure that your trash gets picked up, even if it is late,” said Environmental Services Director Darryl Lesak. “We are thankful for the public’s patience during this time.”
As always, residents are reminded to place their carts on the curb at 7 a.m. and leave them until they are collected. Residents with Tuesday recycling pickup are advised to leave their carts on the curb overnight; those that are not collected Tuesday will be collected Wednesday.
The landfill is scheduled to reopen Wednesday.
As a reminder, trash and recycling pickup on June 19 (Juneteenth) will continue as normally scheduled.
