The City of Victoria is seeking residents’ input to guide improvements at the Victoria Community Center and surrounding facilities and grounds.
Residents can share their experiences and wishes by taking the Victoria Community Center & Fairgrounds master plan survey.
About the master plan
The master plan will provide long-range recommendations for event programming and facility improvements at the community center.
Last year, the City completed a sports facility assessment in partnership with The Sports Facilities Advisory. Among other recommendations, the consultant suggested undertaking a more detailed study for the community center.
On Nov. 7, 2023, the City Council approved a contract with Populous, Inc., to develop a master plan for the Victoria Community Center & Fairgrounds. Populous is a global architecture design firm that has guided improvements at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Kyle Field at Texas A&M and Reliant Stadium in Houston, as well as numerous county fairgrounds and exposition centers.
The steering committee for the master plan includes representatives of the City of Victoria, Victoria County, the Parks & Recreation commission, the tourism advisory board, the University of Houston-Victoria, Victoria College, the Victoria Livestock Show, the South Texas Farm & Ranch Show and Victoria Comic-Con.
Take the survey
The survey, which takes a few minutes to complete, includes questions about how residents currently use the community center, including how often they visit and why, as well as the types of programs and amenities they’d like to see.
To take the survey, visit www.victoriatx.gov/ccmasterplan. The deadline to respond is 5 p.m. Feb. 18.
More ways to get involved
The consultant will host two public meetings—one in March and one in April—to share the results of the survey, answer questions and accept feedback.
The plan will be brought to the City Council for adoption in late spring.
