[ARCHIVED] Municipal Court plans outreach events for Municipal Court Week

Nov. 6-10 is Municipal Court Week, and the City of Victoria Municipal Court is making plans to teach residents about services offered by the local court and other organizations.

Vaness_Heinhold“This is an important opportunity for us to not only highlight the work of our court staff but help residents understand the services that are available to them,” said Municipal Court Judge Vanessa Heinold. “We’re looking forward to meeting with residents throughout the week and discussing their needs and how we can help them.”

Municipal Court at Teens Grounded

The Municipal Court will pay a visit to the Teens Grounded youth leadership program during the group’s Nov. 5 meeting.

Municipal Court Judge Vanessa Heinold and court staff will teach the teens about what the court does and how to get involved with community service opportunities. Staff will also lead the teens in a team-building activity.

Residents can visit with Heinold and court staff during Java with the Judge 7:30-9 a.m. Nov. 6 at the City Hall courtyard, 105 W. Juan Linn St.

Complimentary coffee and pastries will be provided during this come-and-go event.

Community Resource Fair

More than 20 government agencies, City departments, faith-based groups and nonprofits will share information about their resources during the Municipal Court’s first Community Resource Fair 1:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St.

Residents will be able to learn about a wide variety of resources, including food and nutrition, health, child welfare, utility assistance, job training, addiction recovery, legal assistance and many more.

More ways to connect

The court provides free informational flyers and children’s activity books on traffic safety and other topics at the Municipal Court building, 107 W. Juan Linn St.
