Core Values
Our core values are the heart and soul of how we operate. We dedicate ourselves to these values with the goal of providing excellent services and programs to meet the needs of our community and those within our organization. They guide our actions and serve as the framework for the decisions and contributions we make every day – at each and every level in the organization.
Integrity – Each member of the Victoria Police Department shall be held accountable to the highest level regarding truthfulness and ethical conduct. An understanding of the importance of public trust should be considered in each decision we make.
Professionalism – Each member of the Victoria Police Department shall act in a manner that is consistent with the highest expectations of a public servant. Employees shall be tactful in the performance of their duties, shall control their tempers, and exercise the utmost patience and discretion, and shall not engage in argumentative discussions even in the face of extreme provocation.
Pride In Service – Each member of the Victoria Police Department should take pride in providing the best possible service to the citizens and guests of our community.
Respect – Each member of the Victoria Police Department shall ensure that all persons are treated with equality, dignity and courtesy. A high level of respect must be maintained for one’s self, the citizens we serve, and our organization.
While in the performance of their duties, each member of the Victoria Police Department shall not express any prejudice towards anyone concerning age, gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, creed, color, national origin, physical impairment, political affiliations, religious opinions, or veteran status.
Officers/employees will respect the rights of individuals and will not engage in discrimination, oppression or favoritism.
