Lieutenant Clay Fetters started his law enforcement career in 2003 with the Gonzales Police Department after graduating from the Victoria College police Academy. He left the Gonzales Police Department in 2008 as a Patrol Sergeant, Field Training Officer, and a Firearms Instructor.
In July 2008, Lieutenant Fetters started with the Victoria Police Department as a Patrol Officer. While on Patrol he was a Field Training Officer and a bike officer.
Lieutenant Fetters was transferred as a detective to the Special Assignment Section of the Investigations Division in 2010. While assigned to this position he worked juvenile assault and runaway cases.
In March 2012, Lieutenant Fetters was transferred to the Special Crimes Unit where in July 2012 he was promoted to Sergeant and remained as the supervisor of that unit until his re-assignment as the Sergeant/Training Coordinator in June 2016.
Lieutenant Fetters' latest promotion occurred in January 2018 when he was promoted to Lieutenant and was transferred to his current position in the Patrol Division as the A Company Watch Commander.
In addition to his patrol duties, Lieutenant Fetters has served on the SWAT TEAM as an Entry Team member, a Sniper Team member and is currently serves as the SWAT Team Leader.
Lieutenant Fetters holds a bachelor’s degree in Social and Criminal Justice, a Master Peace Officer Certification, a TCOLE Instructor Certification, a Firearms Instructor Certification, a Cybercrimes Investigator Certification, and a Simunition Instructor Certification.
Lieutenant Fetters has also served in the U.S. Army and Texas Army National Guard for over 20 years. He currently holds the rank of Captain and is the commander of the 272nd Engineer Company.
