2019 Parade Route map showing Main and Bridge street routeDowntown Victoria will glow December 6 and 7 with Christmas on the Square and the Lighted Christmas Parade, and the community is invited to attend.

The annual Christmas on the Square family celebration will kick off at 6 p.m., Dec. 6 at DeLeon Plaza featuring carolers, food and merchandise vendors, and attractions for the children. The event is free and open to the public.

During the event, children will be able to enjoy inflatable attractions, and free hot chocolate and cookies, said Gabby Anglin, the City of Victoria’s recreation coordinator.

“We have a ‘Snow Mazing’ inflatable snow maze and a ‘Snow Zilla’ junior inflatable that will have a slide,” she said. “The children and parents also can enjoy the ‘Elf Yourself’ inflatable where they can dress up as an elf in Santa’s Workshop.”

The Fry’s Fun Farm Petting Zoo also will be open during Christmas on the Square, and Santa Claus himself will make a special visit for photos in the Bandstand.

The Lighted Christmas Parade will roll through downtown Victoria Dec. 7 with 146 float entries. The parade route begins on Main Street at the intersection of Main and Goodwin and moves south toward Church Street, then north on Bridge Street, and ending at DeLeon Plaza.

Anglin said the parade will feature 77 floats and trailers decked out in bright holiday lights. Six marching bands will provide the holiday music while 12 cheer and dance teams will spread the holiday spirit along the parade route. Custom cars and motorcycles will also participate in the festive displays.

“Kids of all ages love a parade and with all the lights and the fun themes, it truly adds to a family’s holiday experience,” Anglin said. “At the end of the parade, Santa Claus will make another appearance wishing Victoria all the best for the holidays.”
