PHOTO #1: Laura Janis, first-grade teacher and after-school program director at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, holds a $250 gift card provided by Academy Sports + Outdoors. Janis was the first-place winner in the back-to-school shopping spree giveaway that was sponsored by Academy and Parks & Recreation as a way to say thank you to teachers for their hard work during the pandemic. Community members were invited to nominate deserving teachers or coaches for the giveaway by commenting on Parks & Recreation’s Facebook page. Academy will also provide a 10% discount to all teachers during September. For more information on Academy’s Teacher Appreciation Month, visit academy.com/teachers. For more information about upcoming Parks & Recreation events and giveaways, follow the department on Facebook.
