Fox is retiring after a 27-year career with the Victoria Fire Department. He joined the fire department in 1996 as a firefighter/EMT and moved up through the ranks, holding the titles of paramedic specialist, fire lieutenant, battalion chief and assistant fire chief before being promoted to fire chief in 2018. Fox has served through crises ranging from the 1998 flood to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2019 he oversaw the implementation of lifesaving on-site blood transfusions at a time when fewer than 20 EMS providers in the nation were providing this type of care.
