PHOTO #1: The Victoria Fire Department recently hosted a countywide fire prevention poster contest at local schools in observance of National Fire Prevention Week. The contest was sponsored in part by Victoria Fire & Safety, Citgo Petroleum Corporation and Rosewood Funeral Chapel. The contest winners were honored during an awards ceremony Oct. 7 at the Victoria Community Center. Shown from left are fifth-grade winner Cooper Kickendahl, Our Lady of Victory Catholic School; fourth-grade winner Mason Lara, Nazareth Academy; third-grade winner Xavier Perez, O’Connor Elementary School; second-grade winner Riley Fox, Bloomington Elementary School; and first-grade winner Teagen Trampota, Our Lady of Victory Catholic School.

The theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Week was “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.” Trophies were given to first-, second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-grade winners.
