The primary objective of the Purchasing Department is to organize and administer the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services for the City in a manner that will result in the best value. Procurement is defined as the acquisition of goods and/or services at the best possible cost, in the right quantity and quality, at the right time, in the right place for the direct benefit or use of the City.
Purchasing personnel will work closely with departments and vendors to provide the types of goods and services necessary in conformance with ethical practices as well as City policy and procedures.
Purchasing maintains a warehouse where various supplies are kept for use by all City departments and is also responsible for disposition of surplus property through auctions.
The Purchasing staff has a combined total of 50 years of purchasing experience.
