Captain of Patrol - Kevin Sanderson

Kevin Sanderson is Captain of the VPD Patrol Division.  He supervises the four patrol platoons as well as the Traffic Safety Unit.

Captain Sanderson began his career with the Victoria Police Department in 1993 after having served as a Reserve Police Patrolman in Blytheville, Arkansas Police Department for three years while stationed there on active duty with the Air Force.  He also served as a Corrections Officer and Reserve Deputy with the Aransas County Sheriff’s Office.

During his tenure with the VPD, Sanderson has served in varied capacities.  While he was a Patrol Officer he also served on the “Power Shift” and as a Bike Patrol Officer working pro-active directed enforcement.  As a Senior Patrol Officer he also served as a Field Training Officer.

Captain Sanderson promoted to Sergeant in 2002 and to Lieutenant in 2004 where he continued to serve on patrol until his transfer to the Investigations Division where he was the Special Assignment Lieutenant / District Attorney Liaison.  In 2008, he promoted to Captain.

Captain Sanderson has also been in the military since 1988.  He has been in the U.S. Air Force on active and reserve duty and is currently in the Air National Guard.  He was deployed overseas due to war operations four times since 1991.  He has also been an Instructor at the Air Force Police Academy (Security Police Academy) while in the Reserves.

Captain Sanderson is a graduate of the Leadership Command College / Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.    He is currently attending the Victoria College and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  Sanderson holds a Master Peace Officer license and is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Instructor.
