Lieutenant of 4th Platoon - Ralph Buentello

Lieutenant Ralph Buentello began his career at the Victoria Police Department in 1991 as a Patrol Officer.  In addition to his years as Patrol Officer, he worked on the former “Power Shift” and he has worked as a Dare Officer, Narcotics Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant and Detective Sergeant.

Lieutenant Buentello created a structured Honor Guard for the VPD in 1995 and he continues to oversee that unit today.   That same year he was awarded Officer of the Quarter, recognizing his work in forming that unit.

Lieutenant Buentello serves on the VPD Review Board and he is a member of the VPD Bike Patrol.

In 2008, Buentello was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and has served in the VPD Training and Recruitment Unit and is now assigned to the Patrol Division where he is in charge of the 4th Platoon.

 

Lieutenant Buentello currently holds a Master Peace Officer certificate and he is a certified TCLEOSE Instructor and Firearms Instructor.  He has over 3000 total TCLEOSE hours.  Buentello is currently the lead instructor for the Victoria College Police Academy where he has taught for many years.

Lieutenant Buentello serves on the Board of Directors for the Hope of South Texas, a local children’s advocacy center.  He was elected President of the Board in 2010.
