Lieutenant of 2nd Platoon - Michael Tatum

Lieutenant Michael Tatum joined the Victoria Police Department in 1977 as a Patrol Officer.  Since hiring on he has held numerous positions including Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and in 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at which time he was transferred to the Patrol Division where he is now in charge of 2nd Platoon.

Lieutenant Tatum has been a member of the Department’s Honor Guard since its inception.  He is also a member of the VPD Bike Patrol.

Lieutenant Tatum graduated from the inaugural class of the Law Enforcement Management Institute in 1991.  He is a certified TCLEOSE Instructor, and a Firearms Instructor.  He currently holds a Master Peace Officers Certificate from TCLEOSE.

Lieutenant Tatum is also a graduate of Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology.
