Lieutenant of Investigations

Mike Hernandez

Lieutenant Mike Hernandez began his career with the Victoria Police Department in 1989.  His past assignments include Patrol, Major Traffic Accident Team, Narcotics, Juvenile Detective, Firearms Instructor, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant.

Since January 2006, Lieutenant Hernandez has been in charge of General Assignments in the VPD Investigations Division.  He oversees Adult Crimes, Crime Victims, Crime Stoppers, the Crime Scene Unit and Case Management.  Other duties include supervision of 12 detectives/officers and 8 civilian personnel and the administrative function of Investigations.

Lieutenant Hernandez is also in charge of the VPD Armory and the department’s weapons in the area of inventory, care and maintenance.

Lt Hernandez has attended Module I and II of Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT).  He holds a Master Peace Officer’s Certificate and has over 3000 hrs of law enforcement training.
