Kelly Price
Lieutenant Kelly Price began his career with the Victoria Police Department in 1980 as a Police Dispatcher. Shortly thereafter he attended the Police Academy and became a licensed peace officer assigned to the Patrol Division in June, 1981. Lieutenant Price’s experience includes a variety of positions; including Senior Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Crime Prevention Officer and Detective. After promoting to Sergeant in 1992, he served as an Investigations Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant and a Sergeant in Police Administration.
Lieutenant Price was promoted to Lieutenant in 1996, assigned as a Patrol Shift Commander. Since then he has served as the VPD Accreditation Manager, 911 Center Supervisor, Investigations Lieutenant, and now serves as the Lieutenant in Police Administration.
In Lieutenant Price’s current position, he oversees the administration of VPD Policies as well as serving as the department’s Program Manager for the Texas Police Chief’s Association – Best Practices Recognition Program. Lt. Price is the current chairman of the VPD Review Board which conducts oral interviews for new employees and those employees wishing to transfer to other positions within the department.
The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education has awarded Lt. Price the Master Peace Officer Certificate. Lt. Price is a TCLEOSE Instructor and has over 4800 total TCLEOSE hours.
In 1991, Lieutenant Price was named the VPD Outstanding Employee for the year. He received a VPD Certificate of Merit in 2008.
