Lieutenant - Jason Cross

Training Unit and Crime Prevention Unit

Lieutenant Jason Cross began his career with the Victoria Police Department in 1997.  Prior to joining the Department he was involved in the law enforcement field.  He is working on his Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, and has been an adjunct instructor for Mechanics of Arrest at the Victoria College Regional Police Academy since 1995. 

Lieutenant Cross has held positions on patrol as a Patrol Officer and Senior Patrol Officer.  He worked in Crime Prevention and was a Public Information Officer for the department while in the Community Services Unit.  He served as a Sergeant on Patrol as well as in the Investigations Division.  In 2008, Cross was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and placed in command of the VPD 3rd Platoon on patrol.  He is also a member of the VPD Bike Patrol Unit. 

In January 2012, Lieutenant Cross became the Support Services Administration Lieutenant in which he supervises both the VPD Training Unit and the Crime Prevention Unit.

Lieutenant Cross has attended Module I of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT).  Lt. Cross holds a Master Peace Officer Certification through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
