The Victoria Police Department Training Unit consists of one Lieutenant, two Senior Patrol Officers, and a Police Clerk. The Training Unit provides extensive relevant training to all VPD employees from the time of employment and throughout their career.
The Training Unit must ensure that the officers and other employees of the department receive the training required by VPD Policy, the City of Victoria, State of Texas and any other regulatory authorities. The unit closely monitors the progress of new officers from the Basic Police Academy and during the Field Training Program before allowing the officer to complete probation.
The Training Unit is also responsible for the recruitment function of the department which includes testing, hiring and followup events involved in the recruitment process.
