Guadalupe River is Rising Rapidly

(VICTORIA, TEXAS)  The National Weather Service is forecasting that the Guadalupe River will rise rapidly over the next two days and crest late Saturday at 28.2 feet. The public should stay away from the Guadalupe River until further notice.

Parts of Riverside Park including Grovers Bend, Foxes Bend and the boat ramp may close as early as tonight.

At 28.2 feet flood waters should not enter any homes but residents in low-lying neighborhoods near the river should prepare for flood waters in case the projections are revised.

If residents have been flooded before, owners or renters should have a flood plan in place and be prepared to move to higher ground if floodwaters threaten their residence. Residents should monitor the local media and weather radio channels for current river level information.

LATEST RIVER LEVEL

AT 10:30 a.m., the Guadalupe River level measured at the Moody Street gauge was 12.6 feet and rising rapidly.

CLOSINGS

There are no city closings yet but parts of Riverside Park may be closed beginning tonight as the water level rises. The boat ramp, Grover’s Bend, McCright Drive and other low lying areas of the park will be closed as the river rises.

PRECAUTIONS

Ranchers and farmers near the river should be prepared to move livestock and large equipment to higher ground.

The public should stay away from the Guadalupe River until further notice.
