Victoria Police Pursue Fleeing Vehicle
Resulting in Capture of 3 Suspects
(Victoria, Texas) On April 10, 2008, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Victoria Police Officer J. Garcia observed a white, 1996 Cadillac failing to stop for a red light at the intersection of Ben Jordan and Houston Highway.
Officer Garcia attempted to stop the vehicle for the red light traffic violation. The vehicle exited the roadway and circled around the “Fastop” located at 2103 Lone Tree. Several police officers were already in the parking lot of the “Fastop” with another unrelated incident. The white Cadillac refused to stop for the officers standing in the parking lot.
The Cadillac rapidly exited the parking lot with the Victoria Police Department patrol vehicle in pursuit. The Cadillac, with four occupants inside, led police on a high speed chase for several miles. The pursuit ended at Goodwin and Navarro with the suspect’s vehicle severely damaged (from running off the roadway several times) and consumed in fire.
All four suspects immediately fled the scene on foot with VPD officers giving chase. Three suspects, including the Cadillac’s driver were arrested for charges ranging from Driving While Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, Evading on Foot, to Outstanding Warrants.
