Laurent Street Reduced to Two-Lanes for

Three Months for Utility and Paving Improvements

(VICTORIA, TEXAS) The City will reduce Laurent Street to two-lanes, one in each direction, between Rio Grande Drive (Houston Highway/Business 59) and Red River Street beginning Thursday, April 24, 2008 for utility and paving construction. This  traffic restriction will remain in effect for three months, weather permitting. Drivers can expect delays in the construction zone and should use alternative routes if possible.

This construction is part of the $9,885,800 Laurent Street Reconstruction Project, Phase 1, from Business 59 to Airline Road. The contractor performing the work is Triple B Services Incorporated, from Huffman, Texas.

All businesses, restaurants and residences on Laurent Street will remain accessible during the construction.  Drivers should use alternate collector streets such as Navarro Street or Ben Jordan Street and should avoid the use of residential streets to detour around the work zone.

For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 485-3340.
