Downtown Utility Projects will Narrow Glass Street and Close

William Street Beginning September 28

(VICTORIA, TEXAS) Downtown utility improvements will require temporary closures of two streets and an intersection beginning September 28.

  • Utilities will be installed on Glass Street beginning Monday, September 28, resulting in Glass being narrowed to one lane northbound between Juan Linn and Commercial. The intersection at Glass and Constitution Streets will need to close temporarily for 1-2 days. This project will take approximately two weeks, weather permitting; on-street parking will not be allowed in the work zone.
  • William Street will be closed from Santa Rosa to Constitution Streets on Monday, September 28, to install new underground utilities. This project is expected to take one day, weather permitting. Parking lots in this area will remain accessible.

As these projects progress, measures are being taken to reduce the inconvenience to businesses, residents and motorists. However, delays are still possible in the work zone and alternate routes are suggested when possible.

This construction is part of the $2,913,062 Downtown Water and Sewer Line Replacements (Phase I, Projects 1 & 2). The contractor is Triple B Services, LLP from Huffman, Texas. Completion of this project is estimated at approximately eight months.

For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 485-3340.
