Constitution Street Reduced To One-Lane from

Main Street to William Street Beginning September 21

(VICTORIA, TEXAS) The City will reduce Constitution Street to one lane eastbound from Main Street to William Street starting Monday, September 21, 2009 to install underground utilities. The construction is expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.  On-street parking will not be allowed.  All businesses and parking lots in the construction zone will remain accessible via different routes.

To work safely and efficiently, the intersection of Liberty Street and Constitution Street will be completely closed for short periods during various times. The intersection will reopen as soon as the work zone is clear.

The City has taken measures to reduce inconvenience to businesses and motorists but drivers can expect major delays in the work zone and should use alternate routes to get around the work zone when possible.

This construction is part of the $2,913,062 Downtown Water and Sewer Line Replacements (Phase I, Projects 1 & 2). The contractor is Triple B Services, LLP from Huffman, Texas. This project will take approximately 8 months to complete.

For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 485-3340.
