Fire Station No. 2 Groundbreaking Ceremony February 2
(VICTORIA, TX) The public is invited to the official groundbreaking for Fire Station 2 at 2708 Miori Lane, 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2. Victoria Fire Chief Vance Riley, Mayor Will Armstrong, City Council members and other City officials will take part in the ceremony.
BRW Architects Inc. of College Station and Don Krueger Construction were chosen to design and build Station 2; this same team recently completed Station 4 in 2009. Also contributing to the station’s design, were staff members from various units within the fire department. Station 2, although modeled after Station 4, is a smaller facility; it will not include a training tower. Station 4 received honorable mention for its noteworthy “shared facility design,” in a national fire administrator’s magazine design contest November 2009.
The new 9,500 square-foot station will house a fire engine pumper and an ambulance, with a minimum of five personnel for each shift. Building features include three apparatus bays, living quarters with eight dorm rooms, a work room, decontamination room and physical wellness area. Construction is expected to be completed late fall of 2010.
