Rescheduled: Free Winter Rose Pruning Workshop
Memorial Rose Garden February 5
(Victoria, TX) Learn how to prepare your rose bushes for maximum color this spring. Join the experts as they share tips and techniques on rose pruning and planting methods Friday, February 5. Two classes are offered, the first from 9am -12 p.m. and a repeat class from 1- 3:30 p.m. at the Victoria Memorial Rose Garden, 426 McCright Drive in Riverside Park. Advance registration is required.
Proper winter pruning is cultivated by experience. Following hands-on demonstrations, participants will spend the remainder of the session practicing winter-pruning techniques on the Hybrid Tea, Grandiflora, Climbing and Floribunda roses within the garden.
Participants are asked to bring their own bypass hand pruner, gloves and beverage. Those attending are advised to wear long-sleeve clothing to protect themselves from thorns. The Memorial Rose Garden is wheelchair accessible.
The last day to register is Thursday, February 4. Contact the Parks and Recreation office at 485-3200 to make your reservation. Space is limited.
