Heavy Rainfall Predicted Friday, January 15

(VICTORIA, TEXAS) The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has predicted a heavy rainfall event for Friday of this week.  Preliminary forecasts are for rain in the Victoria-area beginning around midnight Thursday, continuing through Friday.  Rainfall totals are expected to be between 4-6 inches, with isolated areas potentially experiencing as much as 10 inches of rainfall.  The heaviest rain is expected to fall in the mid-morning.

Victorians with interests along the Guadalupe and San Antonio Rivers should be prepared for a significant rise in elevation and flow.  Furthermore, residents along any creek, waterway, or other area prone to flooding in Victoria should monitor the weather closely through Saturday.

Residents are reminded to consider their own safety, the safety of their families, and of potential first-responders, before trying to drive through water-covered roadways.  Ultimately, the OEM reminds all residents to “Turn around, don’t drown.”

Victorians with questions regarding winter weather preparedness or this release are invited to contact the Victoria OEM at 361-485-3362.
