Fire Chief Vance Riley Appointed Chair
Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council
(VICTORIA, TX) Governor Rick Perry has named Vance Riley of Victoria chair of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Advisory Council. The council helps federal, state and local agencies develop and implement an integrated, statewide program for emergency medical services.
Riley is fire chief for the City of Victoria. He is secretary and treasurer of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association, and a member of the National Fire Protection Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, and Texas Division of Emergency Management 1st Responder Advisory Council. He is also vice chair of the Victoria Local Emergency Planning Committee, secretary of the Victoria Rotary Club, chair of the Golden Crescent Homeland Security Committee, and a board member of the Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Riley received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in public administration from Drake University, and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy in Maryland. He will serve as chair of the council, and is reappointed for a term to expire Jan. 1, 2016.
