City of Victoria Holiday Closures
Friday trash collection moved to Wednesday for two weeks
(VICTORIA, TEXAS) All non-emergency City offices will be closed December 24- 25, 2009 and Friday, January 1, 2010.
Friday garbage customers will have their trash picked up on Wednesday for two weeks, because Christmas day and New Year’s Day fall on Friday; no garbage will be collected on either of these holidays.
Yard waste, brush and bulky items will be collected through Thursday, December 24. These services will be suspended Monday, December 28 through December 31 to accommodate additional holiday trash collection. Normal collection of this service resumes Monday, January 4.
The week following Christmas, Monday, December 28 through, Thursday, December 31, residents may leave additional holiday trash in sealed plastic bags or old trash cans, placed five feet from their automated trash cart. Carts and holiday trash must be placed by the curb no later than 7 a.m.
The Victoria landfill will be open December 24 and December 31; it will be closed Christmas day and New Year’s Day. The City Of Victoria Regional Area Compost Site operated by Garden-Ville will close December 24-25 and December 31-January 1. Both facilities will resume normal operation, December 26 and January 2.
Christmas trees will be collected for recycling Saturday, January 9. Trees must have all lights, ornaments and stand removed; only live trees are collected. Trees must be on the curb by 7 a.m.
