Provides legal representation and advice for the City and all City departments, boards and commissions. Will act as a municipal court prosecutor when necessary. Will provide legal advice & document drafting related to planning, water, sewer, street, solid waste, inspections, law enforcement, fire, personnel, insurance, government purchasing, municipal court prosecution & procedures, information management, and other general municipal issues. Must be licensed by the State Bar of Texas and have at least two years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in the area of municipal law. Performs general accounting functions and applies accounting principles in management of accounts for City. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field. One to three years experience required, governmental accounting and auditing background preferred. Asst. Dir. of Environmental Services - Environmental Services, Solid Waste Division

Oversees, directs, and administers supervision over all of the City’s Solid Waste collection, Recycling and Landfill activities. Assists the Director in providing administrative direction in the planning, operation, maintenance and improvement of City Solid Waste Services. Is responsible for the operation of the Environmental Services Department in the Director’s absence. Knowledge of the processes used in the collection and disposal of waste materials. Ability to read materials including memorandums and reports. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to read and understand materials including federal and state regulations, code books, contract documents, personnel policies, budget documents and technical manuals. Skilled in the use of various equipment and machinery such as hand and electrical power hand tools and heavy equipment utilized in disposal activities such as compactors, lifts, claws and hydraulic systems as well as simple shovels, brooms and rakes. Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Bachelor’s degree in related field, OR ten years of progressively responsible experience (including managerial) in solid waste collection and disposal. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City’s traffic control system including signals, signs, and markings. Determines needs and formulates solutions for traffic control operations including equipment installations, traffic signal timing and signal system operations. Knowledge of traffic regulations. Knowledge of Texas MUTCD requirements. Ability to utilize computer applications to develop and implement traffic control strategies. Ability to develop and implement traffic control improvements. Ability to read and understand materials including memorandums, plats, plans, specifications, maps, deeds, field notes and legal descriptions. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Skill in math. Technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical analyzing and repairing. Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, property and financial losses. Work also includes responsibility for coordinating the activities of departmental safety programs, workers compensation claims, and property and casualty coverage. Work is performed under the direction of the Human Resources Director. Prefer Bachelor degree or Associates degree in Safety Management or related management field with course work in safety and loss prevention. Three years experience working with a safety or loss prevention program, developing, planning and implementing safety training programs and in conducting accident investigations. Good knowledge of accident prevention concept, occupational hazards, safety standards, and accident reporting procedure and analysis, as well as OSHA standards and laws. Industrial hygiene knowledge preferred. Knowledge of personal protective equipment and its use. Ability to make on-the-spot decisions in immediately hazardous situations. Knowledge of property, casualty, and liability coverage as well as Texas Workers’ Compensation Act. Construction or plant background beneficial and bilingual a plus. Prepares long- and short-range plans and programs related to the growth and development of the city. Assists with the administration of Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs and grants. Assists with the review of subdivision plats and plans for the development and utilization of land and physical facilities. Knowledge of current acceptable planning practices, processes and procedures. Ability to research and write planning and development-related reports. Ability to read and understand technical materials, regulations, reports and journals. Ability to effectively work and communicate, both orally and in writing, with citizens and other contacts. Performs a variety of detailed clerical work in the library to include extensive reshelving of books and materials. Must be at least 17 years of age. If still in high school a diploma or GED is not required. If no longer attending school a high school diploma or GED is required. No experience required.

Telecommunications Operator - Police Department

Under general direction, will conduct inspections of buildings and properties in the City to determine code compliance. Handles written and oral communication relative to inspections. Rotates with SW workers in the collection and disposal of solid waste from residential and commercial containers. Disposes of yard waste and large, bulky items.
