Charmelle Garrett assumed the role of City Manager on March 1, 2011. She is the City's first female City Manager.
Garrett has been with the City for 20 years including roles as the Deputy City Manager since October 2006 and Director of Human Resources for the prior 16 years.
Garrett has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Louisiana Tech University, is a graduate from the Certified Public Manager Program at Southwest Texas State and graduated from the
ICMA Senior Executive Institute Program at the University of Virginia.
She served as Regional 9 President of the Texas City Manager’s Association in 2009, and is currently on its Board of Directors. Garrett is also current member of the International City/County Management Association.
