#rockingfreshair Initiative Scheduled to Launch Spring Break Week
Just in time for Spring Break, the City of Victoria’s Environmental Services Department is launching #rockingfreshair, fun initiative designed to promote air quality while encouraging citizens to spend time outdoors with friends and family.
The painted rock craze is a popular movement that is trending in communities across the U.S., and the City of Victoria is jumping on board with its very own painted rock program. #rockingfreshair will inspire individuals to get outside and enjoy the fresh air while searching for painted rocks that have been hidden at various locations around our beautiful City. Families and friends can scour some of our local parks, walk around streets, search trails and even climb playground equipment based on the daily clue. There is no minimum age to participate – toddlers, teens, moms, dads and even grandparents can enjoy hunting together!
During the week of March 12-16, the focus will be on promoting all things Environmental – such as riding your bike, recycling something or simply picking up litter around an area to help the environment. Clues about where to find the rocks will be posted each day on the City of Victoria Environmental Services Facebook page around 11:30 am, so please like this page on Facebook! The Department doesn’t plan on stopping after only one week! #rockingfreshair will continue for 14 weeks each Friday around 11:30 am with additional clues posted so citizens can visit more locations to learn about other city departments and the events they have going on.
To spark some interest and help promote #rockingfreshair, the first person who finds the hidden rock each day will win a prize!
Businesses who would like to donate a gift card, small item or service to help get the program off to a “ROCKing” start may contact Tiffany Koenig, Environmental Specialist, at 361-485-3230. Businesses will be recognized each week during the clue release on Facebook.
