Houses of Worship Can Apply for Public Assistance Funds In Relation to Hurricane Harvey Disaster Recovery

(VICTORIA, TEXAS) FEMA issued guidance on January 2, 2018 to consider private nonprofit (PNP) Houses of Worship as potential eligible applicants under the Public Assistance Grant program.

Under FEMA’s Public Assistance program, eligible applicants are reimbursed for disaster-related costs for emergency response, debris removal and permanent work such as repairs or replacement of disaster-related facilities.

Houses of Worship in the following counties located in the Golden Crescent region may apply for assistance: Aransas, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria.

FEMA is allowing a 30-day application period for Houses of Worship impacted by Hurricane Harvey beginning January 5, 2018. Applications will be accepted until February 4, 2018 at 11:59 pm CST.

Houses of Worship that would like to apply for Public Assistance must first submit a Request for Public Assistance (RPA) form. Applicants can download online at https://grants.dps.texas.gov/site/PA.cfm and click on Forms. The form is also available on the City of Victoria website on the Hurricane Harvey Recovery webpage. Applicants will then submit the form to TDEMrecovery.rpa@dps.texas.gov
