City Accepting HOT Fund Applications Starting July 3, 2017
(VICTORIA, Texas) The City of Victoria is accepting applications from local organizations seeking Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Funds from July 3, 2017 until July 21, 2017. Under a State of Texas law, the City of Victoria collects a Hotel Occupancy Tax from hotels, bed & breakfasts and other lodging facilities. The revenues collected may only be used to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry.
Priority will be given to applicants based on their ability to generate overnight visitors to Victoria, including the arts, historical, tourism and sporting organizations. Only those events and programs that generate meaningful hotel night activity will be eligible to receive hotel occupancy tax funds.
All requests for funds must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on July 21, 2017. The application is posted to the City’s website at www.VictoriaTX.org/departments/city-attorney/hotel-occupancy-tax-hot-funds. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications via email to: email@example.com.
Applications will be reviewed by the HOT Funds Committee and recommendations will be made to the City Council in August. The City Council will make final decisions on funding.
Pre-application sessions covering the HOT Funds application process and the evaluation process will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 28, and at 10 a.m. at City Hall, 105 W. Juan Linn, in the 2nd Floor Conference room. All applicants are strongly encouraged to attend as attendance to an information session is part of the application process and will be taken into consideration during application evaluation.
